About GuildFinder

A better way to find Discord servers and bots.

GuildFinder is a free directory of Discord communities and bots. It ranks them by what's actually happening in them: who's joining, who's active, and what members say. Not just by how big they are.

Why it's different

Ranked by activity, not size

A big server that's gone quiet doesn't sit at the top forever. Rankings move with this week's growth, joins, votes, reviews and how many members are online.

Numbers that come from Discord

Member and online counts are read from Discord, not typed in by owners. Joins are counted through GuildFinder's own invite, so a "join" means someone actually joined.

A person checks things

New listings are approved by staff before they go live. Every ad is reviewed before it runs. The Verified badge is given by hand, after a checklist.

Votes you can trust

Voting needs a Discord account at least 30 days old, and each account can vote for the same listing once every 12 hours. You can't vote for your own listing.

How ads work

How the rankings work

Recalculated every hour.

Every listing gets a trending score from the last seven days. The things that count most:

  1. JoinsPeople who clicked Join, and people who actually joined through GuildFinder
  2. GrowthHow many members the server gained this week
  3. ActivityThe share of members who are online right now
  4. VotesVotes this week, from accounts old enough to vote
  5. InterestProfile views and clicks from the directory
  6. ReviewsNew reviews this week
  7. SizeCounts a little, so small active servers can still rank above big quiet ones

Bigger numbers help less and less (each signal is counted on a curve), so one huge spike can't buy the top spot. Ads are always labelled. Paying for one doesn't add anything to the score itself; only the real clicks and joins it brings in count, the same as any other visitor.

The GuildFinder bot

Add it to your server

Add the bot to connect your server. It confirms you manage it, makes the invite GuildFinder uses to count joins, and can post promotions into one channel you choose.

It never reads your messages, and it runs entirely on slash commands.

Nothing intrusive

See the invite

GuildFinder asks for five permissions, never Administrator, and each one has a single job.

What it asks for

Create Invite
Makes one GuildFinder invite, so joins from the site can be counted.
Manage Server
Discord only shows how many times an invite was used to bots with this. GuildFinder uses it for that count and to check you manage the server. It doesn't change your settings.
View Channels
To find a channel for its invite, and to see the promotions channel if you pick one.
Send Messages, Embed Links
Only in the one promotions channel you choose with /server promotions. Leave that off and it never posts.

What it never asks for

  • Administrator
  • Reading message content or history
  • Kicking, banning or timing out members
  • Managing roles, channels or webhooks
  • Deleting or pinning messages
  • Mentioning @everyone

You can take any permission away afterwards. The only thing that stops working is the part that needed it.

Questions

Is GuildFinder free?

Yes. Browsing, listing, voting and reviewing are all free. The only paid thing is ads, and you can earn the coins for those without paying.

What can be listed?

Any public Discord server or bot that follows Discord's rules and ours. You need to own the server or have Manage Server in it. Scams, illegal content and anything that breaks Discord's rules are refused.

What does the Verified badge mean?

Staff have checked the listing: the owner is confirmed, the server is established (50+ members, 30+ days old), it has a real description and a working invite, and there are no open reports. The full checklist.

Can owners buy a higher ranking?

Not directly. An ad puts a listing in a labelled spot, and the money itself adds nothing to the trending score. If the ad brings people who click and join, those real visits count like any others.

What do you do with my data?

Sign-in is through Discord and only reads your username, avatar and server list. We don't sell data and there are no tracking cookies. The privacy policy has the details.

Something's wrong with a listing. What do I do?

Use Report on the listing page. A person reads every report. For anything else, contact us or ask in the support server.
